Alright, time to start a new thread.  I tend to check the forums from my phone a lot and it just takes too long to scroll through all the posts to get to the latest.

We have the Long Board Room at Don the Beachcomber for Saturday May 1 at 6pm.  We will not have our own server so we will have to trudge over to the bar for drinks and food, but they will deliver the food to the room for us.  And they may occasionally send a server in to take drink orders.  The room can comfortably fit 40 people.  There is a projector and a large screen so we can watch our episodes of Tiki Bar TV.  There is a dvd player in the room and we can hook a computer up to the projector if we want.  They do not have wireless in the room or internet access.  I think that will be rough for the out of town folks who want to at least be there in spirit.

The only downside of this arrangement is that if someone wants the room and is willing to pay for it we will lose our spot.  But we could just move over to the bar.

The Facebook invite shows 8 people and I know at least four of those people are brining significant others so right I know I only know of 12 people who are planning to show up.

I do think we should play games and have much merriment.

Did I miss anything?

Can there be a tokbox room set up for out-of-towners?
O.K. we have a room but, we can get kicked out of it?

How much would the room cost so we wont get kicked out?
Just called and we are still on the books for the room. I made up little number tents so the servers know where to drop off our food. I am so very super excited!!

To keep us from not losing the room we would have to fork out $300. I don't really have the $50 to $60 plus food and drink it would cost to pay my share with only that many people. There is also a dining room next to the room she could put us in, but then we couldn't watch the show. So if we end up in the bar we could at least have Tiki Bar TV on while we have fun. We are officially booked in the room, and the chances of us losing it are pretty slim.

We are such a small group that I think we will really have fun anywhere we end up there.

Does that help at all?
There isn't any internet for us to start a room, but I'm sure that Joby can stream a bit from his phone, or the East Coast Tiki Chat peeps will have a room going. Just keep an eye out on @JustHarmless @_BuBBy_ or @douglasderda to see if they get a tiki chat room going on Tokbox...

Thanks Cindi for securing us the room, we'll put out a donation jar for people who show up to throw in a few bucks to make sure to reward Marie's efforts to help us out :)

By my count I've got 12+ as well, which makes it a hard sell to buy the room outright... we're a hearty group of people so I'm sure we can handle having the bar/food location a bit up in the air... we will definitely have fun regardless of where we end up!

So what games are you thinking? Bunnies? I'm going to have to review the rules a bit... I know my friends and I made up many of our own as we were playing...

I'll bring Twister! Ha ha :)

YES!! Twister!! I will be brining a couple of posters a friend of mine made with the "actual" rules of Bunnies too. I think Bonnie is going to try to get a set up for a Checker Challenge also.

I am really looking forward to this!!
Is there an Opium Den near by?
I will try to make it. I may or may not be in the Joshua Tree National Park at the time.
You do not like games? or are you a lotus-eater?

I'm sorry Just Desserts, I'm Ignoring you! ;)
For everyone coming, Marie was in a terrible car accident and is recovering. There is a card at the bar for people to sign. If you've been to Don's before or had the pleasure to meet Marie, please be sure to sign it. She IS Don the Beachcomber... without her the place would be having karaoke in the bar (seriously, she's had to battle to keep it out of the Dagger Bar, "Karaoke in a tiki bar?! Not on my watch!") and serving sugary blended crap. Let's send some tiki love her way.
