Throwing a small Post Trick or Treating Halloween get together and need a signature drink. Considering the Pumpkin Punch from Episode 22 but was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions. Keep it simple I'll probably be making a lot of them.

Thanks

how about a "prairie fire" its tequila with a float of tabasco and for the occasion you can rename it "hells ice water". nobody will want one but you can put it on a drink menu. by the way drink menus are real important at parties because there is nothing worse than a party with a full stocked bar, something you probably have, and a room full of people who have no idea what they want. The drink menu helps with their indecisiveness, and helps you with knowing what needs to be stocked and ready to go. Five drink on the menu is just about right.
I think the Pumpkin Punch from the episode sounds delish - simple, and won't break the bank to make lots ;) Juan's suggestion sounds interesting too!

You could go with a punch bowl full of Zombies. It's not a simple drink, but you wouldn't have to make individual ones all night long ;) Here's a recipe from the 1947 Trader Vic's Bartender's Guide - you might need to pare down the recipe for however many guests you'll have:

Zombies (for about 60 people)
2 bottles Jamaican rum
4 bottles Puerto Rican rum
1 bottle Demerara 151-proof rum
2 bottles curacao
3 quarts lemon juice
3 quarts orange juice
1 quart grenadine
2 oz. Pernod or Herbsaint

Mix ingredients thoroughly; chill with large cake of ice in punch bowl, letting it stand an hour or two before serving.

If anything else comes to mind, I'll let you know - hope you have a terrific get-together :)
A few years ago a friend of mine created a drink called the Voodoo Priestess when she was working at Forbidden Island Tiki Lounge in Alameda, CA. It garnered national attention and appeared in several cocktail blogs after Gary Regan wrote about it in the San Francisco Chronicle. You'll need to multiply by the number of drinks you plan to make. I would suggest pre-mixing all the ingredients into a jug or pitcher without ice. Then for each drink, pour 9.5 oz of mix into shaker, add ice, shake and pour into large goblet or tumbler. Do not combine the ingredients and ice into a "punch" beforehand! It will dilute the drink way too much! The addition of the red sanding sugar on the rim is cool because it drips like blood into the drink when the liquid hits it!

The VooDoo Priestess
Adapted from a recipe by Thayer Lund of Forbidden Island, Alameda.

INGREDIENTS:
1 1/2 ounces Cruzan dark rum
1 1/2 ounces VooDoo spiced rum
1/2 ounce brandy
2 ounces fresh orange juice
1 ounce fresh lime juice
1 ounce fresh lemon juice
2 ounces Voodoo Priestess Spice Syrup (see Recipe)
1 dash orange bitters

INSTRUCTIONS:
Fill a cocktail shaker two-thirds full with ice and add all of the ingredients. Shake for approximately 15 seconds and strain into a large, ice-filled goblet.

Note: At Forbidden Island this drink is served in a glass rimmed with red sanding sugar.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Voodoo Priestess Spice Syrup

INGREDIENTS:
1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
2 cups pure cane sugar
1 cup boiling water

INSTRUCTIONS:
Sift together the pumpkin pie spice and the sugar, add boiling water and stir until sugar has dissolved. Allow to cool to room temperature.
