In L.A. Friday May 28, NEED TO TIKI!
I'll be in L.A. soon, looking to get out to a Tiki Bar. I'll be staying in Little Tokyo. Any suggestions? Due to the short duration of my stay, I will not be renting a car, are there public transit options?
Can anyone join me?
Don't let me down Tiki Bar Fans....

Public transport? You have HEARD of LA befroe, right? Your best bet is probably to hook up one of the many friendly local TikiBarTV'ers and get a ride. TikiGeeki, I happen to know, is a SUCKER for rum.

I probably can hot wire a car, but just picking the lock/ignition is much easier.
I'll be out for the long weekend, but my only free night in LA will be the 28th. The rest of the weekend in going to be spent in San Francisco with another group of friends[Not up to as much Tikiness I'm afraid].
I am familiar with public transit, living in Chicago. I have even taken the bus from LAX to Burbank before[Two transfers and 80 minutes later]. But that was many years ago. I guess I was after the ease of use factor and things to avoid.

Just the one day, eh?! Bummer. There's a huge tiki event at Don the Beachcomber on the 30th... Benefit for Marie the bar manager who was in a near fatal crash. Tons of tiki folks, half a dozen bands, tiki artists putting their stuff up for raffle and auction. It's going to be huge.
Fridays I would suggest either Tiki-Ti or Don's. In fact, you are practically walking distance from Tiki-Ti. Well, taxi distance.
Hmmm... Ok, here's my plan. I pick you up in Little Tokyo around 7pm, we drop down to Don's for rum, food and a little live tiki/surf band. Then we head back up and close out Tiki-Ti. I'll drop you back off since you are on my way home. That should get your tiki fill before heading up to SF and your "friends". Though if you can sneak it in, I highly recommend Smuggler's Cove... Forget the tiki aspect, it's just an awesome bar with amazing cocktails.

I know, trust me I'd like to linger a bit longer, but it will be a busy weekend, and Trader Vic's in Emeryville is closed[Or so I have heard from Otto over at Tiki News], and I would like at least a little Tiki on this trip.
I'll be at the Miyako Hotel, as I have to catch a train in the morning at Union Station. Tiki Ti is walking distance for me. Probably about 75 min if I walk at a usual pace, though I would probably take lots of pictures, maybe more like 120 min.
However, I do like your plan. If you are up for it, I am certainly game. I also suspect you are nicer than a taxi, a drink for you good sir! [Or two if that would help. Oh, okay, three!]

I'll be house sitting so I'll have to arrange for the pups to have a doggy-sitter, but I'll try to join you for at least part of the adventure (either Don's or the Ti!)

you'll be by where I live...I live on 4th street in downtown. You can visit Trader Vics @ L.A. live but i'm sure you've hear Tiki Tis the place to go visit...Damon's in glendale is not bad too...but they close early like BAHOOKAs....soooooooo since you won't be renting a car...let's see about getting together...ciao

The plan is Don's and then Tiki Ti. I'm co-ordinating with Tikigeeki, as he seems to know the area, and has also offered me a lift. Anyone and everyone is welcome to meet us, the more the merrier! I'm sure Tikigeeki would approve!
