I look forward to seeing you on the 4th!!!!

Permalink Reply by Molson on June 10, 2009 at 13:16 This looks like a job for our tiki guru Humuhumu and her website Critiki.
Not only will you know where the tiki bars are, you can find out how good they are before you go.
It looks like there are a few to choose from there. One is pretty close by.

I was just speaking with my brother. He spent several years in the Long Beach area and seemed to recall a place called the "Whaler" with a rooftop bar. I'll need to google it to verify that it still exists.

Permalink Reply by Molson on June 12, 2009 at 7:47 It"s a bit of a trek from Venice, but Tiki Ti is a must visit. Think of it like a tiki Pilgrimage. The drinks are well worth it but you may wanna try getting there earlier than later as it's tiny and gets packed quickly.
Other than that and maybe Trader Vics I don't know many places do even drink at, and I Live near Venice! So I'm just as curious about the answers to your question as well.
Permalink Reply by Molson on June 12, 2009 at 7:50 You have to hit one of the SoCal official tiki bars! Sure, its a bit of a drive, but... come on... its a tiki bar!
Tiki-Ti (LA)
Don the Beachcomber (Huntington Beach)
Purple Orchid (El Segundo - Probably the closest)
