Looking for bar/lounge recommendations

So I finally found the time to book my airfare for the July 4th festivities. I'll be arriving at the Venice / Marina del Rey area on July 2nd and was wondering if anyone could recommend any decent drinking establishments.

I prefer to avoid common tourist traps and tend to enjoy places that are more conducive to conversation.

Any help would be greatly appreciated... Skol!

Yes look for the neon "Cocktails" sign and turn left

There's an invite in the events postings. You'll like it. Maybe you can work out a carpool situation with someone.

I've got all day/night Thursday to explore the local establishments... this place happens to be on the same street as my hotel. Thanks for the suggestion Jim!
