The navy/coast guard kills pirates all the time the only reason we heard about this is because they were dumb enough to try to take over a boat with an American flag flying on it. Almost every ship in the navy has at least 3 teams of people that's entire job is to board boats that might be a threat and the majority of them are ships that were taken over by pirates.

I believe the agreed upon attributed kill total for Jefferson is eleventy billion, but I may have just made that up and added it to the Wikipedia post.

Comparing eleventy billion to three would put our poor man right out of the running! Let the guy have a little glory, he still has to sweep up all this economic chaos, and WITHOUT a drink in his hand!

Well some pirates have been known to have peg legs so you have to figure that if one president got a few legs that would make up .5. In theory anyway.
