On the 40th aniversary of the internet, a contest with $40,000 to find 10 red balloons today .

OK, we are all over the world so I imagine we have most of the cities covered in the states.
DARPA which was started in 1957 after WTF? Sputnik? Was formed to prevent future surprises.
They are holding a test with weather balloons being flown in cities through out the United States.
The first group to report the GPS numbers of all ten locations will win $40,000. Let's all join forces and try to win that money and support Tiki Bar TV. I suggest PM's to the real Tosca. This one from Craig's List is a imposter!

Ive just found 99 red balloons, 99 (Luftbalons)

Releasing red Luftballons was much more dire in the old cold war days..........

The English lyrics explain why, to those not familiar with the language of the original release.......

Hopefully releasing these red balloons wont be the same scale of disaster.......

Oddly there is a NEW version out now......
Oddly 99 Red Balloons seem to be a pretty popular subject as Goldfinger also remade the song as a punk rock tune

But the song seems to have hit rock bottom when the Chipmunks re-recorded the Punk Rock version........

The Chipmunks singing in German about 99 red balloons is a New one for them though...........
I regret to inform everyone here, the contest is over. Could have been Tiki Bar TV getting the prize but no.
You'd rather put up 99 Red Baloons renditions. Mean while these people worked.

MIT wins DARPA's Great Red Balloon Hunt
DARPA Network Challenge took MIT team only nine hours to win, nets $40,000
By Michael Cooney , Network World , 12/05/2009

Almost as soon as it was launched, in only nine hours in fact, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) announced that the MIT Red Balloon Challenge Team won the $40,000 cash prize in the DARPA Network Challenge, a competition that required participants to locate 10 large, red balloons at undisclosed locations across the United States. The MIT team received the prize for being the first to identify the locations of all 10 balloons.
OK, you all win.
